The Breathing Chair is a reactive chair that celebrates the act of sitting while keeping the spectator in mind. The hope is to allow the user and the audience to see "sitting" in a new light.
Stainless steel cables are tied to bamboo plywood. When the user sits, the chair "inhales," pulling the bamboo tines in towards the sitter. When the user stands, the chair "exhales," pulling the seat back up. See video below.
