Inspired by the work of Arthur Ganson, this piece was an exploration into the visual and tactile experience of rice. Using Max/MSP on a G4 Mac, as well as the Teleo module, and the QProx capacitance touch sensor, the piece moves when you touch the water-filled metal bowl. Dip your finger in the water, or hold the cup. The halogen lamp embedded in the rice lights up slowly, and the rice begins to move like quicksand.
